When it came time for dessert, I was told that a vegan dessert hadn't been loaded for me (despite having supplied my vegan entree and main) and they frantically looked through the cabin and came back with a very cold and hard muffin in a paper patty case and served me that. Incredibly disappointing. I've been served this same muffin in economy on domestic flights, and this was not what I expected for first class international. On my return from Dallas, I noticed that the catering was completely different, no signature cocktails, fewer breakfast choices and a particularly poor standard of catering. While I can't fault the seat or the service, Qantas needs to up their game when it comes to catering and accept that veganism is on the rise and we also expect exceptional meals, and if this is something that Neil Perry can't do they need to look to another chef to provide culinary expertise. Also, catering out of the USA is dismal, I've flown out of three ports with Qantas (SFO, LAX & DFW) and the food is better on domestic flights within Australia, particularly for a vegan!
