Those who are traveling from Kochi to US by Emirates May face issues if you are traveling on work visa like L1, H1B etc. While checking my documents at Emirates checking counter at Kochi, the person at the counter asked for I-797. Looking at the 1-797, he called his supervisor and he in turn called his supervisor who was an elderly lady in Emirates beige and red dress. It created a total mess for over an hour for nothing. What I understood from conversations is that in the 1-797 it is written that it is not a valid visa document. I tried to tell them that the visa is stamped on the passport but in vain. I believe the staff and hierarchy of supervisors are not familiar with US visas and types. They probably are good with visa categories to gulf destinations but not definitely to US. I never faced this issue traveling from Delhi or Bangalore or heard of anyone talking about it. Traveling from Kochi, passengers may have to pay for their non familiarity & incompetence on US visa documents. Otherwise, Emirates is a good carrier and I travelled with them many times.
