Economy Class

I was forced to check my carry-on with breakable items I purchased in Israel. My bag was well within the limits of what is an allowable carry-on and was the same one I used on the flight to Israel with no issues. The supervisor was extremely rude. I explained I had breakable items that will definitely break and she just said too bad. I was also lied to and told the plane was full- the seat next to me and few around me were empty- plenty of room for my bag. My travel companions all were allowed 2 carry-ons. As soon as I got to my destination I saw a plate had shattered. I immediately reported it to the Lufthansa office at the airport and was told they couldn’t do anything and to email customer service. No one mentioned having to do it within 7 days.Once I had time, I sent an email to customer service. The airline admitted I shouldn’t have been treated that way but because my email came in 9 days vs 7 - even though I reported it immediately at the airport- they refused to reimburse me all of $50 for my plate.
