After years of planning Perth Airport is finally able to move forward with its grand plans for Perth’s gateway to the world.
The airport has partnered with Australia’s largest hotel operator, Accor, to operate the first hotel on the airport estate under the Pullman Hotels & Resorts brand.
The state-of-the-art Pullman Perth Airport is slated to open in 2027 and will have 240 rooms and suites across eight floors, a rooftop restaurant and bar, lobby lounge café, gymnasium, sauna, meeting facilities, and co-working spaces.
Dan Sweet, Perth Airport’s Chief Property Officer said Perth Airport’s recently announced $5 billion capital investment program which is the largest private infrastructure development in Perth and that investment will deliver a new terminal, ground transport infrastructure and the first airport hotel.
“We are delighted to be partnering with world-leading hospitality group, Accor, to deliver our first hotel.
“The new Pullman Perth Airport hotel will be a world-class facility located at the front door to our major terminals. It will make it even more convenient for international and interstate visitors, providing a place to stay and relax during connections.
“Pullman, along with its parent company Accor, are both well-known and respected global hospitality brands. Their expertise and experience will ensure a fantastic new accommodation offering debuts in Perth, particularly for those transiting through the airport.”
Accor Pacific Chief Operating Officer PM&E Division, Adrian Williams, said the expansion of the Group’s airport hotel network highlighted the evolution of airport precincts into major commercial and service centres.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Perth Airport to deliver Pullman Perth Airport. Given the hotel’s unrivalled location and exceptional facilities, we anticipate strong interest and demand for Pullman Perth Airport from both business and leisure travellers alike.
Accor is the largest operator of airport hotels in the Pacific region with 22 airport hotels.
With more than 20 hotels and resorts across Australia and New Zealand, Accor’s Pullman brand is the largest and fastest growing premium brand in the market.
Pullman Perth Airport will be the fourth Pullman airport hotel in the Pacific, joining Pullman Sydney Airport, Pullman Brisbane Airport, and Te Arikinui Pullman Auckland Airport Hotel (which opened in December 2023).
The announcement of the go-head of the much-anticipated hotel came with the airport reporting a strong FY24 profit result.
Strong growth in passenger numbers saw increased revenue across all of the airport’s operations, including aviation, ground transport, property and retail.
Perth Airport’s EBITDA rose from $403.8million in FY23 to $420.8million in FY24, while net profit after tax rose from $110.4million in FY23 to $125.4million in FY24.
The result also included the resolution of all commercial issues with the Qantas Group, which have dragged on for five years.
Perth Airport CEO Jason Waters said that momentum is building behind the airport’s major projects program.
“When Perth Airport grows and prospers, Western Australia grows and prospers,” Mr Waters said.
“The coming five to 10 years will completely change the face of Perth Airport.
“We have already started this transformation with work commencing on our first multi-storey carpark and significant changes to our access road network.
For the FY24 year the airport handled 16.1 million passengers and 157,000 aircraft movements.
At the results announcement last month Mr Waters added that he expected that the “new parallel runway project to be the next cab off the rank” with the additional capacity delivered by the new runway to underpin future growth in the tourism and aviation sector.
“It will also be critical for the FIFO-based resources sector with the Chamber of Minerals and Energy pointing to $147.2billion worth of resources projects in the pipeline.”
Perth Airport is continuing with design work for the expanded international terminal and the new Qantas domestic terminal.
